Described as “a phenomenal pianist” by Maestro Gerard Schwarz and “a very talented pianist” by legendary pianist Santiago Rodriguez, Dr. Tingting Wu is a vivid, appealing, and innovative pianist. She offers a unique insight into how classical music concerts can become more accessible and understandable for the general audience by combining colored lighting with music to reflect its emotional and harmonic changes through live performances. Based on this ideology, she founded the project ColorMusic. The first trial recital based on this idea successfully premiered in Clarke Recital Hall at the University of Miami in September 2022, gaining massive support from faculty and audience members. From September 2024, She will officially perform series of colored lighting concerts at ColorMusic Hall, 1770 Brickell Ave in downtown Miami.
Aside from her ongoing ColorMusic project, Dr. Wu is the solo pianist who performed all the piano parts for the PBS Musical TV Production “Pictures at an Exhibition”. The production aired on South Florida PBS TV channels in November 2023, and it will also be aired by more than 220 PBS TV Channels, including New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Las Vegas, Washington DC, and Houston, among many more cities from 2024-2026. Miami Chinese TV Channel also invited her to perform as the solo pianist at their 2024 Chinese Dragon Year Gala Concert, witnessed by more than a thousand live audience.
In 2023, Dr. Wu was selected among hundreds of doctoral candidates by the Graduate and Postdoctoral Research Symposium at the University of Miami to give a TED-like speech for her doctoral final project “A Tribute to Clara Schumann, Amy Beach, and Florence Price”, a music project that presents great piano solo music of three underrepresented and neglected female composers from the nineteenth to twentieth century.
